How long does it take to learn animal communication? Psychic (or telepathic) communication with animals is a skill anyone can learn. How long it takes changes based on things like, how good do you want to be, and how well do you trust yourself. If you’re looking for your first psychic connection with an animal, it’s quite fast! If you’re looking to go pro, it’s a bit longer.
After 25+ years as a renowned animal communicator, what I can tell you is that the distance between those two answers isn’t really about the connecting. Connecting is the part that comes fast. Believing what you got is the part that takes a while.
How Long Does It Take to Learn Animal Communication As a Beginner?
A beginner can have their first psychic moment with an animal within a few weeks of starting. That’s possible because animal communication isn’t a brand new skill you’re building from nothing, it’s an ability you already have and stopped using a long time ago.
Everyone is born intuitive — both for themselves and with animals. By the time we’re about five years old though, we had shut our intuition off in order to “fit in” with a world that values mostly tangible data.
So learning animal communication is more about rediscovering something that is inside you, rather than developing a completely new skill. This means that a beginner can have their first psychic moment with an animal quite fast. In my beginner Soul Level Animal Communication® class, for example, the student is receiving their first intuitive hit from an animal in the second week!
What Do Most Students Experience in Their First Animal Communication Class?
The first class isn’t about connecting with an animal. It’s about learning how animals communicate psychically in the first place, so you can recognize the information when it arrives. If you don’t know what could happen, how can you find it?
This is why my courses give people that foundation of understanding how the intuitive info from the animal can come to them, as well as an idea of how they could possibly receive it. Understanding your own “intuitive communication tubes” and how they’re working is important to being able to use them in an animal communication connection.
The first class is often both exciting (I felt something!) and also challenging, because many students want to rush ahead to the animal. It’s this foundation though, of using the energy and intuition and getting to know it, that makes the second class — with the connection to the animal — so easy and powerful.
How Long Does It Take to Go From Beginner to Confident Animal Communicator?
Most students finish my 6-week 101 course excited about what they can do, and then need roughly another 6 to 12 weeks before they’d call themselves confident. What fills those weeks isn’t learning to connect. It’s learning to believe what you’re receiving.
Consistent practice is what creates the confidence here. In my live component classes, we’re setting students up to practice with each other so they can get more experience at the many different things that can come up during a reading (it’s also easier to practice with another person and their animal rather than your own, because you’re attached to your own and more objective with theirs).
Many students get so excited with their practice partners that they choose to do even more practices — and this definitely speeds up their confidence because of their experience. After all, you never know what is going to come up in a reading!
By the end of my 101 course students are pretty excited with what they can do for animal communication readings (that’s about 6 weeks), but their confidence still needs time to develop. It usually takes another 6-12 weeks for the student to start saying, OK, I’m feeling good now! It’s not that it’s hard to connect, it’s more that it’s hard to believe themselves. That’s why my students take my animal communication courses.
What Affects How Quickly You Learn Animal Communication?
Three things speed up or slow down how quickly someone learns animal communication: belief in yourself, support from the people around you, and whether you trust the teacher you’re learning from.
Belief in self. This is the one that separates two students with identical ability. The information arrives for both of them, and only one of them keeps it.
Support from others (usually not from family — but most often from the class itself, because connecting with other students can make a safe environment). Being able to say I got a picture of a red gate and I have no idea what that means to a room that won’t laugh is worth more than it sounds like.
Trusting your teacher (if your teacher is not nice or doesn’t feel safe, it can slow down the learning). You don’t get worse at intuition in an unsafe room, you just start editing yourself before you speak, and editing is the opposite of receiving.
Can a Skeptic Lean Animal Communication?
A true skeptic can still learn animal communication. However, they must be a true skeptic, which means they’re not sold on it but they are open minded to try it out.
If you come in with the belief already in place that this is not real, it doesn’t matter how many amazing communications you have — you won’t believe it because you already didn’t believe it. A skeptic like that will want to verify every step of the way, which is fine, except that nothing ever verifies, because the conclusion was already sitting there before the first reading started.
However, a skeptic who comes to the class saying, “let’s see!” is in the best mindset to be able to learn. And they are the most fun to teach as well! More on that here: Can skeptics learn animal communication?
How Long Does Animal Communication Certification Training Take?
There are four classes on the road to certification at my school. Two of them run 6 weeks each and two of them run about 4 to 5 months each, and you’re doing readings the entire way through.
The SLAC 101 and SLAC 102 classes are 6 weeks long each, and this is where you discover the basics (how to connect, how to ask questions, what to do when you get stuck).
The next course is my Soul Level Animal Communication 201 course, and it’s different. Now that you have the basics, I can take you through the full structure of the reading, from start to finish, crafted for the best outcome with the client. This course is about 4-5 months.
The final course that will allow you to join my Certified Practitioner Program membership is the business building course, where I run you through creating your intuitively based business, and that also takes about 4-5 months.
Can You Learn Animal Communication Faster With the Right Support?
Yes. A live teacher whom you adore, other students to practice with, and regular feedback on what you’re receiving are the difference between learning this in months and circling it for years.
What slows people down is almost never ability. It’s doing it all alone, with nobody to tell you whether what you got was accurate, because you never know what is going to come up in a reading and there’s no way to check it by yourself. You receive something about a dog you’ve never met, and by the following day you’ve quietly decided you imagined it.
That’s what classes fix, and it’s why connecting with other students matters as much as the lessons do. It’s also what my Be Open community is for. Members practice with each other, ask questions, and bring in the stuff they’re not sure about, which is usually the good stuff.
