Is Fear Your Guide?

Is fear your guide? Is fear your guide?

I’m just about to get my day started – it’s a day of private clients, getting myself back in the groove after a weekend traveling to teach a workshop at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY, and working on the revisions for my manuscript.

And I had a thought.

Almost everyone who came to my weekend workshop to learn animal communication came with some type of reservation, fear, worry, or anxiety.

Some people were worried they wouldn’t be able to do it. Others were concerned that they wouldn’t get anything right. A few thought everyone else might have “the gift” but that they weren’t worthy of it.

But despite these concerns (and believe me – there were many!), what all of these people had in common was that they showed up.

That’s right – it didn’t matter how fearful they were, they pushed through and showed up that Friday night for a weekend of… who knew what with me and a whole bunch of animals.

And the coolest thing about that? Showing up is what allowed them to have a really positive experience, even though it was a little scary for many of them.

And so, you can do the same thing! Instead of letting fear be your guide (which will, in the end totally psych you out of trying something new), you can let passion be your guide.

Does this thing you’re considering sound cool? Are you really interested in doing “it?” Does it make you feel excited?

If your answer is yes, then, who cares about your fears! Fear is not your guide – passion is!

When I was deciding whether or not I wanted to teach a week long animal communication intensive for this October, I had to go through the same decision making process. I’ve never taught a whole level 1 class in one week. I didn’t know what to expect – but when I thought about working with a group of people for 6 days together, all excited about the same things I’m excited about, I realized – who cares what my fear says – and I decided to go for it!

If you want to join me at Kripalu in Massachusetts October 30th-Nov 4th, I encourage you to use passion as your guide, just like I did and maybe I’ll see you there!

If you’re making a decision on something else – consider this a personal message to you to stop psyching yourself out and just GO FOR IT!!

No more letting fear be the guide – it’s passion and heart all the way!

Here’s to passion and heart-centered decision making!

This really speaks to me as I have been putting off something that I have known for over a year would be really good for me due to fear. Fear of what? I’m not really sure, at this point it would appear that my fear is fear of success.

I have been saying it was procrastination, but I truly think it has been fear. I have finally just decided to go for it and do it full force and with passion, like you said, and now one day into working on my new idea I am so excited and full of passion and feeling so motivated.

Stepping out of our fear and our comfort zones is just so crucial in getting to where we need to be.

Thank you for the great post, wish I was closer so I could attend some of your workshops. But I’m happy to be able to see what you have to say here on your blog.
